Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Low contrast - text and buttons
  • Missing labels
  • Links missing/redundant
  • No search bar for site or site map
  • Redundant titles/labels

We do not have control over the elements above and have raised these issues with our website supplier (Hugofox) with a view to resolving them.

  • Links need alternative text
  • Headings need checking for correct format
  • Links require informative text
  • Instructions not clear
  • Images require alternative text with description

We plan to address the above elements which are under our control by July 2021.  When we publish new content we will make sure that it meets with accessibility standards

Disproportionate burden

Withington Parish Council do not have the expertise to do a detailed check and paying a third party would place a disproportionate burden on us, therefore the basic checks have been completed by the Clerk using the Governments Doing a basic accessibility check and WAVE

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDF's and Word documents

Many of our older documents may not meet accessibility standards – for example, they may not be structured so they are accessible to a screen reader. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23rd September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.

Some of the PDFs we publish are statutory requirements. We receive these in a locked or set format that we have limited or no control over but must publish by law. These regulations provide exemption for such 3rd party documents.

We plan to reformat all documents published since 23rd September 2018 by July 2021.  Any new documents we publish will meet accessibility standards. if you require a copy of any documents that do not yet meet the regulations, please contact the Clerk, who will ensure that you receive a copy of the converted document as soon as possible.

Planning Tracker

The website uses a Planning tracker plugin which connects to Shropshire Council's Planning Register.  Withington Parish Council does not have control over the formatting of the content as it is a 3rd party content.

Maps

The maps present on our website have been produced by a 3rd party and therefore we do not have control over the formatting of the content.  If you cannot view/use the map please contact the Clerk for directions or an alternative.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

Withington Parish Council is working towards improving the accessibility to the website and plan to make all corrections under our control by July 2021.  The Parish Council will contact the website supplier (Hugofox) with a view to resolving accessibility issues under their control on the website.
