COVID-19 & St John the Baptist church
St John the Baptist Church, Withington
Response to COVID-19
Please be assured of our prayers as we work together at this time to keep everyone happy and safe.
While we are unable to share in public worship we are finding ways to continue as a worshipping community.
There are lots of suggestions on the internet but if you do not have or use a computer we are looking for ways to stay connected.
St John the Baptist Church, Withington is going to be open during the day for people to call in for private prayer whilst keeping ‘social distance’ as they wish. On Sundays for the foreseeable future, Lisa will be in Church between 9:30 & 10:00 praying for this community & our world.
If there are particular things you would like her to pray for you can ring her or text on 07729621554
Light a candle of hope:
A national call to prayer
At 7pm this Sunday,22nd March 2020, Mothering Sunday, light a candle in the windows of your homes as a visible symbol of the light of life, Jesus Christ, our source and hope in prayer.
And a couple of prayers for this difficult time
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy.
Sustain and support the anxious,
be with those who care for the sick,
And lift up all who are brought low;
That we might find comfort
Knowing that nothing can separate
us from your love
In Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
Lord Jesus Christ,
you taught us to love our neighbour,
and to care for those in need
as if we were caring for you.
In this time of anxiety,
give us strength
to comfort the fearful,
to tend the sick,
and to assure the isolated
of our love, and your love,
for your name’s sake. Amen.
